National Identification System (NIDS)

NIDS Brochure

The Government of Jamaica (GOJ) is currently designing and developing a National Identification System (NIDS) that will provide a comprehensive and secure structure to enable the capture and storage of personal identity information for citizens and persons ordinarily resident in Jamaica.

The National Identification System (NIDS) will become the primary source for identity assurance and verification and will result in improved governance and management of social, economic and security programmes.

The National Identification System (NIDS) project was launched by the Honourable Prime Minister on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Jamaica House and included the formal exchange of agreement between the Government of Jamaica and the Inter-American Development Bank, through the Korean Poverty Reduction Fund.
