WE ARE GOING AFTER JOBS EVERYWHERE - LABOUR MINISTER
Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles says that in three weeks he will be announcing how many jobs his Ministry has matched with persons looking for employment.
"You can't have jobs if you don't have investments. Anywhere the jobs are, we are going after them," said the Minister to the audience at the Prime Minister's Town Hall meeting in May Pen on September 23.
Giving an update on the progress made to secure overseas employment, the Minister said that he had recently made trips to Canada and also the USA. He said that at this time 13,000 farmers were on overseas farm work and 3,000 were also overseas in public health nursing jobs.
The Minister announced that the following day (September 24) 37 employers from Canada were expected to arrive in Jamaica to recruit health care workers to fill positions in that country.
