PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN FUNERAL FOR PROF REX NETTLEFORD

In anticipation of the high level of interest in the official funeral of the Hon Rex Nettleford on Tuesday, February 16, special arrangements have been made for participation by the general public.

Members of the public who wish to attend the funeral must use the Irving Hall gate (updated instruction: use Hospital Gate)  to enter the UWI campus. Parking will be by the Old Library. There will be a shuttle service from that area to the chapel. The general public will not be able to enter from any other gate or park in the main parking lot or any other lots adjacent to the chapel. Adequate covered seating and viewing will be provided adjacent to the Chapel.

For persons who cannot attend, but wish to follow the service live, the event will be streamed online on UWI TV (http://tv.mona.uwi.edu) and will also be broadcast on the Supreme Sound (RJRFM), TVJ and CVM. The official funeral for the Hon. Rex Nettleford will start at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

An additional condolence book will be opened at Cornwall College in Montego Bay from Friday, February 12 to Monday, February 15. Other condolence books will be placed at the Undercroft, UWI Mona; the Institute of Jamaica on East Street, Downtown Kingston; the Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions and Research Centre on Hope Boulevard; and the Little Theatre. Condolence books are opened at overseas missions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

The National Dance Theatre Company will stage a tribute show at the Little Theatre on February 16 starting at 6:00 p.m. Complimentary tickets for that show will be available at the Little Theatre Box Office on Monday, February 15.
