PRIME MINISTER GOLDING TO ATTEND BRAZIL-CARICOM SUMMIT:
Prime Minister Bruce Golding leaves the island tomorrow (April 23) to attend the first Brazil-Caricom summit which gets underway on Monday, April 26 in Brasilia.
Mr. Golding will lead a delegation which includes representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade and the Office of the Prime Minister.
Brazil and Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders are expected to sign several bilateral agreements including one on technical cooperation, and a protocol on political consultation.
The technical cooperation agreement will provide much assistance to the 15-member CARICOM grouping as it includes co-operation in the areas of agriculture, health, education, natural resources and the environment, energy, fisheries and aquaculture.
During the Prime Minister's absence from the island, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr Ken Baugh will be in charge of the government.
