PM URGES MSME ALLIANCE TO EXERCISE POWER AS A UNION

Prime Minister Bruce Golding urged the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Alliance to exercise their power as an amalgamation because there is strength in numbers.

Speaking at the MSME Alliance Annual Fundraising Dinner/Awards Ceremony recently, the PM said, "not because you are small but the more you are, the better it will be as it is a natural organizational phenomenon."

"Even large organizations recognize that they have to get together because they are far better off seeking to deal with the challenges that confront them if they work together rather than working separately."

He continued to say that the MSME Alliance has an opportunity to fulfil a role in Jamaica that has not been effectively served which is ensuring that policy makers and bureaucracies understand the importance and power of the small business sector.

"One of the things that impressed me when I heard about the structure of the organization is that this is not an association of small business people but a powerful amalgamation of small business organizations,"
Mr. Golding noted.

The MSME Alliance, which is an association made up of Business Associations that seek to provide support for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Jamaica, presented awards at its Annual Fundraising Dinner/Awards Ceremony to the MVP Track and Field Club for World Class Entrepreneurship in managing the achievements of UTech/MVP medal-winning athletes, the Racer's Track Club for World Class Entrepreneurship in managing the achievements of Usain Bolt and the President's Award presented for the most outstanding President and Association for 2009.
