PM PROMISES TO INVESTIGATE REPORTED CASES OF ABUSES BY SECURITY FORCES IN TIVOLI...Permanent police presence will be in Tivoli

Prime Minister Bruce Golding  and Member of Parliament for West Kingston has promised  teachers in the Tivoli Gardens area that everything possible will be done to investigate reported  cases of abuses  of citizens and students  by the security forces.

Mr. Golding said he has given the public defender all the support needed to effectively compile a preliminary report and that he would pursue those reports of abuses vigorously. Mr. Golding's pledge came this afternoon when he visited several schools in his west Kingston's constituency including the Tivoli Gardens High, Denham Town High, Denham Town Primary and St Albans Primary.

Mr. Golding   made it clear that there will be a permanent police presence in the Tivoli Gardens   community and this should not be resented by the citizens. He said what should be demanded is that the police are professional and respectful in their duties.
