PM GOLDING IDENTIFIES POSSIBLE AREAS OF
GROWTH FOR THE ECONOMY

Prime Minister Bruce Golding expects some recovery in the bauxite and alumina sectors, which he says will in turn add to the growth of the economy. He named a number of projects coming on stream, including a change in the ownership of St. Ann bauxite. What is involved in that change is a commitment to a lot of major projects.

Mr. Golding explained that due to the fallout in the economy, it is difficult to get these things going. However, the infrastructure and resources are still present so every effort will be made to revive them. He expressed satisfaction with the work being done in the agriculture sector. "Chris Tufton has a very powerful team there, I think they're going places," he said during an interview aired recently on CVM's "Direct".
