PM Golding Attending CARICOM Canada Session at Summit of the Americas
PM GOLDING ATTENDING CANADA/CARICOM SESSION
As the 5th Summit of the Americas gets into its first full working day, Prime Minister Bruce Golding is among the CARICOM heads attending this morning's Canada/CARICOM session. The Jamaican foreign affairs delegation will then participate in bilateral meetings with their counterparts from several Organisation of the Americas (OAS) member states including Canada , Chile , Colombia , the Dominican Republic Ecuador, Mexico , the United States of America and Venezuela .
Three plenary sessions will be held throughout the day, the first of which will address issues affecting human prosperity. Prime Minister Stephen Harper of Canada will make a speech at that gathering. A working luncheon on environmental sustainability will follow during which the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon and the Prime Minister of Grenada, Tillman Thomas will speak.
Energy security will be the theme of the second plenary. President of the United Mexican States , Felipe Calderon; President of Paraguay Fernando Lugo and President of Brazil, Luis "Lola" Inacio da Silva will address this theme.
The third plenary is on democratic governance and President Michelle Bachelet of Chile , Prime Minister Ralph Gonzalves of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Secretary General of the Organisation of American States, Jose Miguel Insulza will make presentations.
