PM CONGRATULATES BARBADOS ON FIRST
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GOLD MEDAL IN BERLIN

Prime Minister Bruce Golding has sent the following congratulatory message to the people of Barbados on today's victory by hurdler Ryan Brathwaite in Berlin:

"The people of Jamaica join with Barbados in recognizing the achievement of hurdler Ryan Brathwaite who won the first IAAF World Championship gold medal for his homeland in Berlin today, August 20.

Brathwaite and two Jamaicans, Maurice Wignall and Dwight Thomas, were the three starters from the Caribbean in the race which the Barbadian took home in fine style. We congratulate him and the people of Barbados on this wonderful achievement".
