CONGRATULATIONS TO NEW WORLD RECORD 100M
FRASER AND SILVER MEDALIST STEWART....PM Golding

Prime Minister Bruce Golding today hailed the world record victory of Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser and the silver medal for Kerron Stewart in the finals of the women's 100m race at the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin Germany and said their performances was another historic day for Jamaica.

In a message just minutes after their victorious run, the Prime Minister said the seeming ease with which Fraser shattered the world record in 10.73 seconds, was the result of hard work and determination. ‘Jamaica is on top of the world again this afternoon with these victories by our athletes. We are all brimming with pride and joy thanks to our athletes who have been performing so excellently in Berlin.

But the Championships are not over, and I want to encourage the other competitors to stay focused, concentrate your energies so that we can bring home more world records and gold medals to our island,' Mr. Golding said.
