‘WE MUST DO RIGHT BY HAITI'...PM TELLS UNESCO FORUM:

Prime Minister Bruce Golding says while the world focuses on bringing immediate aid to Haiti, it should not make the mistake of walking away when things appear to be returning to   what may be regarded as normal.

Mr. Golding made the appeal when he addressed yesterday's (Jan 24) opening session in Kingston for the first forum of Ministers responsible for social and sustainable development in the Caribbean. The forum has been organized by the government of Jamaica through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation-UNESCO

Mr. Golding told the group that Haiti is going to face an enormous challenge to rebuild what they had, and to build beyond what they had. He expressed the hope that a special conference which gets underway in Montréal, Canada today, to put together a programme of reconstruction, will have the support of the international community.

Cue In:  (starts at 4:08)....If there is any good

Cue out: (ends at 5:04)...to give Haiti a chance...

Prime Minister Bruce Golding.

The 3-day UNESCO forum, the first of its kind in the Caribbean, provides an opportunity for the Caribbean member states to focus on policy responses to the financial and economic crisis as it affects their region.
